Headhunters - Platinum (Owl Studios, 2011)
The legendary Headhunters - originally an offspring from Herbie Hancock's 1973 album "Head Hunters", the first jazz album ever to go platinum - are back with a brand new joint! "Platinum" picks up on the band's legacy title-wise, while taking jazz fusion to the 2010s musically: The album features the Dr. himself, Mr. George Clinton, Snoop Dogg and Wu-Tang's Killah Priest on "D-Funk (Funk With Us)", besides other guests on the album. "Paging Mr. Wesley" is of course a tribute to nobody else than Fred Wesley, and while we're still poring over the question why Blackbyrd McKnight didn't join the renuion party, this is definitely an album worth picking up.
